The striking “Aluma Coupe”—built at Hot Rods by Boyd, founded by the late Boyd Coddington—was recently donated to the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles.
 
“Aluma Coupe’s” one-off, slippery shape and transverse-mounted Mitsubishi V-6 in the trunk debuted in Mitsubishi’s display at the 1992 New York International Auto Show. In the new car show world, the concept car/hot rod garnered much attention from automotive journalists and show-goers for its radical departure from the typical concepts of the day, according to a press release.
 


Magnaflow Exhaust Products has been named the official exhaust of the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series.

With a significantly expanded scope in the short course off-road racing series that includes sponsorship of the Greg Alder Pro 2 Unlimited truck, Jerry Daugherty Pro 4 Unlimited, Aaron Daugherty Pro Lite Unlimited and Stephan Papadakis Pro Lite Unlimited, Magnaflow will be presenting the 40-foot infield Jumbotron, according to a press release.


The U.S. men’s four-man bobsled team brought home the gold medal from the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, B.C., with some help from the performance community.

Welding products company Lincoln Electric, Bo-Dyn Bobsled Project Inc. and Chassis Dynamics all were part of the first gold medal-winning U.S. men’s bobsled effort in 62 years. The team includes driver Steven Holcomb and the crew of Justin Olsen, Steve Mesler and Curt Tomasevicz.
